Professional Installation of PVC Baseboards Using Custom 3D-Printed Tools
Project Overview
The client requested the installation of new baseboards following a wall repainting project. A primary requirement was high durability due to a large dog in the household; therefore, a dense PVC profile exceeding 80mm in height was selected for its superior resistance to mechanical damage.
The Challenge
The chosen baseboard design was unique: it lacked standard corner connectors, internal/external joints, or end caps. All connections had to be made via precise 45-degree miter cuts. Standard hardware store miter boxes cannot accommodate such a high profile without causing slanted cuts, and using a bulky compound miter saw for a small apartment was impractical.
The Batfix Solution
We leveraged our engineering capabilities to solve the problem:
- Design: We designed a custom miter box tailored specifically to this baseboard's geometry.
- 3D Printing: The tool was printed in-house, ensuring a perfect vertical fit and a stable guide for clean, straight cuts.
- Precision Fitting: Since apartment corners are rarely a perfect 90 degrees, each segment was meticulously hand-fitted to eliminate gaps.
The Result:
The final look is seamless and premium, with no plastic caps or connectors visible. The baseboards perfectly complement the multi-colored interior while providing robust protection against pet activity.
Completion Time: 1 working day. Key Benefit: Seamless joints and high-impact resistance.
